Featured Puzzle: Yagit #2

Oh no! Your precious flock is being hunted by wolves! Place fences (lines) along the lines of the grid to create regions that each contain only sheep, or only wolves.

  • Regions may not be empty and may not contain both sheep and wolves.
  • Some regions may be irregular in shape.
  • Fences must start and end at the edge of the grid and may cross each other at any intersection that doesn’t have a post.
  • Fence lines must travel in a straight line except at a post (the dots), where they are allowed to turn 90 degrees.
  • Some posts may be decoys. You are not required to use all (or sometimes any) of them.
One creature per region
Two creatures may not share the same region.
Stranded region in middle
A fence must begin and end at the edge of the grid.
Fence bending at intersection that doesn't contain a post.
A fence may only turn at a post.
Empty region, and more than one fence crossing a post.
Regions may not be empty. Only one fence (2 segments) may connect to a post.

Featured Puzzle: Leapfrog #1

Happy Leap Day! Every four years, we make up for the fact that the solar year is about 6 hours longer than the 365 days on the Gregorian calendar. To do so, we simply add an extra day at the end of February. This was actually a major plot point in The Pirates of Penzance.

Today’s puzzle is Leapfrog. The Japanese name is Satogaeri, literally “coming home.” This is the first puzzle I’ve introduced in which you must visualize movement. Move the frogs so that each region contains exactly one frog.
