Featured Puzzle: Mirror Akari #1

Place Jack o’ lanterns in the grid in such a way to illuminate all of the unlit cells, using number clues and walls. Numbers show you how many lanterns are orthogonally adjacent to them. Walls block light. Some cells contain mirrors that reflect light 90 degrees.

  • Jack o’ lanterns shine in all four orthogonal directions, until blocked by a wall or the border. They don’t illuminate any cells in diagonal directions.
  • Diagonal walls and lines represent single or double-sided mirrors. Light paths striking them reflect 90 degrees.
  • You must light all open sides of mirrors.
  • Lanterns may not illuminate themselves or each other. Don’t place one in an existing light path, including reflected light.
  • Numbered walls indicate orthogonally adjacent jack o’ lanterns. For example, a wall numbered 4 has a lantern above, below, and to its left and right.
  • Diagonally adjacent lanterns do not count toward this limit.
  • Non-numbered walls have no bulb limit, as long as all other rules are obeyed.
  • Mirror cells do not contain lights.
